FAQ
Frequently asked questions about our services, project workflows and collaboration.
Which industries does TechLine serve?
TechLine operates in mechanical and plant engineering, special-purpose machinery and industrial product development. Enquiries from other industries are assessed from a technical perspective and evaluated on a project-by-project basis.
Does TechLine manufacture machinery?
No. TechLine is purely an engineering and design company with no in-house manufacturing. Our services include design engineering, technical design and the preparation of technical documentation. Upon request, we can recommend suitable manufacturing partners or provide technical support in coordinating with suppliers appointed by the customer as part of our engineering services
Do you also take on individual project tasks?
Yes. TechLine undertakes both complete development and design engineering projects and clearly defined individual tasks. The type and scope of services are determined exclusively by the agreed proposal for each project.
What does a typical project process look like?
Technical clarification of the requirements
Preparation of a proposal with a defined scope of services
Design and development in accordance with agreed approval stages
Delivery of the agreed documentation
Project completion following acceptance of the agreed scope of services.
How is the project scope defined?
The scope of services is defined in writing. Any changes or extensions are made exclusively through amendments or supplementary agreements. This limits technical and commercial risks for both parties.
Does TechLine work in accordance with standards and guidelines?
Yes. Design engineering and technical documentation are prepared in accordance with the applicable DIN, EN and ISO standards as well as generally accepted engineering practice. Customer-specific standards are taken into account provided they are defined and agreed before the start of the project.
Which CAD systems does TechLine use?
TechLine primarily uses Solid Edge. This ensures consistent engineering designs, revision-controlled models and technically unambiguous documentation.
Are CAD models or editable files included in the scope of services?
No. CAD models and editable, open or native CAD files are not included in the standard scope of services. The scope of data provided, file formats and rights of use are defined on a project-specific basis in the proposal or contract.
In which file formats is data provided?
Technical documentation is provided electronically in PDF format as standard. The provision of printed documentation or other file formats, such as STEP, DXF, DWG or native CAD data, is included in the scope of services only if expressly agreed in writing and, where applicable, for an additional charge.
How are costs and proposals determined at TechLine?
Every project is unique. The required effort is determined by the specific technical requirements (specification) and the agreed scope of services. Proposals are prepared on a project-specific basis and are non-binding unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing. They are based on a clearly defined scope of services, a transparent project structure, a realistic estimate of time and costs based on the information available, and well-structured and complete technical documentation.
Do you work on a Time & Materials (T&M) or fixed-price basis?
Our services are generally charged based on the actual time and effort involved. In individually agreed cases, billing by project phase or on a fixed-price basis is also possible. The billing method and scope of services are agreed in writing before the project begins and specified in the proposal.
How is billing handled?
Billing is based on the terms of the respective proposal. As a rule, services are billed on a time basis (hourly); for individually defined projects, billing by project phase or a fixed fee may be agreed. The billing method and payment terms are specified in the respective proposal or contract.
Do you recommend an initial phase before the project starts?
Yes. For an efficient project start, we recommend a structured initial phase. During this phase, the objectives, boundary conditions and technical approach are defined. This forms the basis for further project planning and proposal preparation. This phase does not constitute an obligation to perform any specific services.
How quickly can you start?
The project start depends on the project scope, technical complexity and our current workload. One of our strengths is our ability to respond at short notice: in many cases, we can start very quickly. A specific start date is defined in the respective proposal or contract.
Does TechLine support international projects?
Yes. Our team has extensive international experience and a strong network of reliable partners. This provides a solid foundation for the successful implementation of even complex international projects.
Can TechLine also deliver smaller projects quickly?
Yes. Our team is experienced in handling smaller projects efficiently and flexibly. Our customers benefit from quick coordination and fast results without compromising technical quality.
